The composition and main structure introduction
Quartz watches are made of quartz resonators, which are divided into electronic and mechanical types. Quartz watches have three types: pointer type, digital type and double-display type.It mainly consists of quartz resonator, integrated circuit, stepping motor ( for pointer type ), liquid crystal display ( for digital type ), watch battery or AC power supply.Besides,it also concludes conductive rubber, fine tuning capacitor, lighting bulb, buzzer and other components.

- Preparation of raw materials: The manufacturer shall purchase qualified raw materials to eliminate inferior materials, otherwise the finished watch will lose some functions and cannot pass the quartz watch inspection. Therefore, regular manufacturers will set up inspection departments to inspect incoming raw materials. Only raw materials pass the standard can be put into production.
- Processing of parts: According to the structural classification, these parts are completed after further processing by the manufacturer. As quartz watches are precision products, manufacturers attach great importance to the processing of parts and components, and must keep an eye on the operation of workers in every link.
- Assembly of parts: After each part is processed, the last important step remains: assembly.Due to slight negligence,the hands of the watch may not move,and re-examining the source of the problem is also a time-consuming operation. Usually, when the watch is assembled, the workers must dress like doctors and concentrate to ensure that the assembly is correct.
Common defects in quartz watch inspection and their causes
Appearance:
- No visible foreign matter can be left between the watch dial and the watch glass. Various characters and patterns on the dial should be accurate and clear. Dial and hands should be uniform in color and luster, and should not have defects such as pan – color, stain, mark, scratch, etc;
- The shape and profile of the watch case shall be regular and clear. The appearance of watch case components shall be clean and free from obvious defects and scratches. For a watch case with a rotating front ring, the rotation of it should be flexible and reliable;
- The surface of the watchband should be flat and smooth without distortion, and there should be no obvious pockmarks and scratches on the body.
Function:
- The product should not be stopped under normal use conditions, the parts should not fall off by themselves, and the needle shifting mechanism should work reliably;
- For products with a stop mechanism,it shall stop moving during the stop, and shall be able to continue working after returning to the normal state;
- Whether waterproof, shockproof and antimagnetic.
Product testing

- The appearance shall be checked according to defects;
- Voltage range: Adjust the power supply voltage of the watch to the required minimum and maximum voltage respectively, hold for 1 minute each, and observe the movement of the watch within 1 minute;
- Vibration resistance: After comparing the watch with the standard timepiece,the watch is fixed on the vibration test bench at three different positions in sequence, and continuously scans and vibrates at the required acceleration,vibration frequency and scanning period, with the vibration time being 20 minutes at each position;
- Stop function: pull out the handle of the watch, check the stop function, then return the handle to normal state, check the reset function;
- Waterproof or sealing performance: immerse the watch in water with a depth of 8-12cm and keep it for 1 hour. It should be noted that the watch should be tested for condensation before and after soaking in water.
After passing the quartz watch inspection, the function of each watch is checked again. Once defective products are found, the factory will immediately find out the problem and consider whether it is necessary to improve the process. For the test items that cannot be carried out on the inspection site, the inspector can be arranged to take random samples in advance to prepare lab testing to achieve a comprehensive inspection of quartz watches,which can better control of product quality.
